Thanks for reply!

I am not sure what it is, when I bought it, I was told it is a Hub. On it's
front, it is labeled as "EZ switch 10/100" under the name of SMC.

Actually, each computer is installed with firewall. When connect locally,
I'll stop the firewall and internet. So I am not worry about hacker. Each
computer installed with a software provided by the ISP, which creates a ppp
adapter and can dynamically obtain IP address when connect to ISP for
internet connection.

The hub has a port (total 5 ports) to connect to a modem provided by the ISP
then the modem connect to ISP. the other 3 ports connect Win2kPro,Win2kSrv
and Win98, these ports are equal.

On the Win2KSrv, the ipconfig returns:

Local:
Connection - specific DNS Suffix . :
Autoconfiguration IP address.: 169.254.89.231
subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway :

ppp adapter:
Connection - specific DNS Suffix . :
Autoconfiguration IP address.: 64.253.89.231
subnet mask: 255.255.255.255
Default gateway : 64.253.89.231

Now something has a little change: The Win2kSrv can see the same as Win2kPro
and another Win98, it can open share fold on Win98 machine, but when try to
open Win2kPro, same dialog (Enter Network Password) will popup for "connect
as" and "password".

Are these enough information you need?
