Password demanded on accessing shared folders

I've just set up a Win2000 Pro computer as a "file server"
in a peer2peer network of 12 win98SE machines. I used to
have a win98SE "file server" doing the same job, but to
allow some software to run had to change. I have shared
the folders and give all permissions, and each Win98
machine can see the "server" in network neighborhood, but
when trying to open the server the message You must supply
a password to make this connection appears and
Resource :\\FILESRV\IPC$ and a password field.

There was only the administrators password set on the
Win2000 machine when I set it up, but that does not work,
what is it asking for? can I change settings so it does
not ask for passwords as some young children will be using
the "workstations" and they will not remember these.
