Some switches may not correctly auto-negotiate with the Intel® PRO/1000
Family of Gigabit Adapters. All PRO/1000 adapters must be left on the
default setting auto-negotiate to achieve gigabit speed. The link partner
should be set to auto-negotiate, if possible. The driver will first attempt
true auto-negotiation and, if the link is not made, it will switch to
advertised 1000 full.

According to specifications, MT Desktop Adapter supports W2k, and MT Server
Adapter supports W2k and 2k3 servers.
