I have used Netgears for some time. Like them, but have not ever used
the Gigabit models. Of course I would believe that manufacturing
practices run across the board within one company, usually the same
factory (so to speak)...
We are going with a DELL Gigabit switch inside the server room for
directly off the patch panel. We are a DELL office and all the servers
that have GIG are DELLs... but we are tossing up the coin between
the two or three smaller SWITCHES for upstairs between 3COM and NETGEAR.
Also trying to find out if we SHOULD go MANAGED in the server room. I am
not sure it will help right now, but maybe later when we add another
ten nodes of GIG stuff. ANYONE tell me what are the benefits of Switch
management for small (35-40 nodes) office?
MANY thanks!
