HELP! Windows VPN client disconnects intermittently

I recently switched my broadband from cable modem to DSL. For some reason,
my VPN session is now getting dropped frequently. It happens regardless of
the level of activity (it's definitely not due to inactivity), and it's
frequent (every 3-15 minutes), but not regular.
I've done a bunch of searching on this, and from what I could gather, the
client is disconnecting from the server(?). I've been through the
connection properties, and there doesn't seem to be any "peer response
timeout" value that I can bump up. If I'm on the right track, I'm hoping
someone out there knows of a registry setting for this...?
Does anyone have experience with this? Any information you could provide
would be greatly appreciated. This is making life really unpleasant...
