Disconnect both computers from whatever they're connected to.
On your IBM Windows 2000 computer:
Go to Control Panel, Network properties, and right-click and press
properties on your ethernet network interface.
Scroll down to TCP/IP, and press 'properties. For IP Address, give the
computer the IP of 192.168.0.1, a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, and no
default gateway or DNS servers.

On your iBook:
Go to the apple doohickey in the top left corner, control panel, and click
appletalk. Press 'connect via' and choose ethernet, and close & save.

Go to the Apple menu, control panel, then TCP/IP.
Connect via your ethernet card, and choose static IP.
Your IP Address is 192.168.0.2, your subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, you have
no router address, and no nameserver address.

If either your Windows or MAC demands a router or nameserver IP, put in
127.0.0.1

On your first computer, go to Start, Run, and type in \\192.168.0.2
