Wireless woes nearing conclusion

Well I have finally greatly narrowed down the cause of my wireless
problem that I have been trying for weeks to solve now. And to remind
you this unusual problem is that transfers going from my wireless to
wired network are perfectly fine, but data coming from the wired
network to the wireless network suffers from a large number of link
failures and disconnections.
This is odd seeing that data is going in both directions no matter if
the transfer is going up or down, which made me suspect a driver
problem.
As to begin with I thought that it must be a problem with my second
laptop computer, with signs pointing towards a driver problem, but I
swapped every driver on my entire system for every version I could
find with no solution. Not to forget trying every possible option that
these drivers supported.
Also I should point out that this laptop has two Wireless NICs to
choose from, which is an Intersil PRISM2 PCMCIA card and some other
USB model that I forget.
Now, after fixing my first laptop computer (which has been down for
months when the end fell off the power connection) then this also
suffered this problem. Odd seeing that it never used to have a
problem, where it was clear following power on that a complete new
reinstall had be done recently.
And so my choices where now limited to some Microsoft system problem,
where turning off the Wireless Zero Configuration did not help, or
something was wrong on my WAP end.
Today I tried removing my WAP from my network switch and plugging it
straight into my server, which was an idea that simply did not work
out, when every NIC I plugged it in gave a Disconnected message.
Sure I tried my spare cable, with the same results, when my WAP only
lives fine connected to the switch. What is doing that I don't know,
but all the time the WAP needs the switch, then I cannot test if
either of these two is the cause of this.
Anyway, since both my laptops were now working again, then I decided
to abandon Infrastructure and give ad-hoc a try. Sure enough after
some hassle with access rights, then the wireless link between these
two computers was perfectly fine.
This problem was certainly not a signal power or quality problem, when
my connections have always been Excellent, where I even once tried
moving my laptop as close to the WAP as you can get without the signal
strength causing it's own problems.
Well as my ad-hoc test worked out, then I though "what the hell" and I
would disconnect my WAP and plug my USB Wireless NIC into my server.
That is the method I used to use before adding a second laptop and my
WAP to bring it all together, where after further hassle finding the
right driver CD, then sure enough this Server to Laptop1 link worked
out just fine.
So for sure my wireless problem is limited to my Belkin F5D6130 WAP or
my Linksys 5-port switch, where since I desire to upgrade my wireless
network to a faster spec soon, then I want to find the exact cause and
see that it is not repeated.
I guess I will try plugging my WAP directly into my Laptop1 computer,
when that has a wired NIC built in. Except of cause that my WAP does
not like direct connections for some reason, where maybe I should even
check the pin contacts on this WAP.
Anyway, I thought that I would mention this here, when during my
search for a solution I could find not a single person with my one way
problem.
Cardman.
