I am hoping someone out there will be able to help as I have tried alsorts with no luck...
I have a stand-alone PC running Windows 2000 that connects into a domain by dialling through a modem to a RAS.
After major tweaks it is working fine, except for one thing. Where I have set up drive mappings to some areas on the 2000 server it dials onto. Obviously these drive mappings are dead when the PC is first logged in, as it doesnt dial-up at login. The profiles which hold the drive mappings are set up as local as opposed to roaming.
Now when I log into the PC as its not dialling through to pick up the profile it comes up with the "Restoring Network Connections" box asking me to select Yes or No if I want to continue to restore connections. I can select yes, and the mappings will stay on the profile. But is there a way to keep this window from coming up without it removing the drive mappings? These mappings are required for when the user dials into the server. I don't want the user to have to dial into the server if all they want to do is print a document locally for example which don't need the drive mapping..
So, Is there a way to keep the "Restoring Network Connections" screen at bay while the drive mappings are not being used?
I have tried ticking the "Do not display further error messages" tickbox, but this is no good as it only works each time I log into the PC and I need this permanent as I do not want the user ticking the "Do not try and restore the connection in the future" by mistake!
I would be very grateful for any thoughts on this matter...Thanks
