Here's what I have:
Home network via cable modem, 10BT hub, 3 computers, 3 DHCP addresses
Here's the problem:
All computers work properly except for a IBM ThinkPad running W2K BUT ONLY when connected to the hub.
Here's what I've tried:
Multiple cables (known good cables from other computers working properly), multiple ports on hub (known good ports...), entirely different network (corporate LAN), configuration (autosense, 10Half, 10Full - for giggles and kicks), elimination of hub.
The ONLY time the laptop works properly is when directly connected to the modem (hub eliminated from the equation). It has constant link, received an IP address, and functions properly. All the other computers work properly with the hub in the equation. When connected through the hub, the link light on the dongle on the ThinkPad flashes intermittently and an informational message continuously appears saying "Local Area Connection - Network cable unplugged." The LAN card is functioning properly per device manager and obviously so as it works on 1) other networks and 2) when the hub is eliminated.
Is there any known issue with W2K and 10BT hub w/ or w/o cable modem, or is there any configuration settings that might be necessary to achieve proper functionality?
