Hi! I am providing the opportunity for the users of my website to
download XML files which can be used with 3rd party tools to do
something on their local MAC's. Some users being too smart, edit the
files. I need to stop that. My question is:
How do I make a file read-only in such a way that it will remain read
only once users downloaded it ?
Download mechanism: users click on a link and the File Save dialog
comes up prompting them to save
Web Server: Apache on Win 2000
Application Server: Web Logic or Web Sphere
Client: IE on MAC, Opera on Unix
I was thinking of twiking something in the file's header to make it
read only. Is it possible? What else can be done ?
Many Thanks in Advance,
