The slow to fill column view over AFP issue seems to have been introduced
with Mac OS 10.3. We did not see it in previous releases of the Mac OS
including: OS 8.5, 9, 10, and 10.1. Mac OS 10.3+ clients will experience
this problem connecting to NT4, Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 servers. At
this time the workarounds are to use folder views or use SMB shares.

Hi everybody, I have a problem which is comprehensibly and independant from any hardware: Server-side: Win2003 - Server with SFM and one Macintosh Share Client-side: PPC G4 or G5 with OS X Panther 10.3.x When I mount this shared servervolume on the mac with AFP and then open the folder with column-view, the first look to the content is horrible slow. Sometimes, with many files and folders in it, the rotating circle cursor comes up and rotates for several seconds until I can see the content. Apple knows this and I think Microsoft knows this, too. What I would like to know is: Is SFM still in development by Microsoft? If not, there is one good workint third party product I can use, but I donīt want this because I would have to pay it. I would take Apple Server in the future. Greetings.
