Just got a Micron Trek 2 laptop with Win2000. I haven't used Win2000 orof
laptops previously.
I have a question about how to use the pcmcia slots. This laptop has two
them. I need one for an Ethernet card, and one for a wireless. Wireless"one
for on the road use, Ethernet for our home setup.
My questions:
1. Do I put both physically in the slots at the same time? Or is it a

You can run both at the same time, but remember that if you're running
on batteries it will cut down battery life.
2. Does simply seating them in the slots activate them (they've both
already been installed via software)?
Once you have installed the drivers, they should be automatically
detected and activated. When you want to remove them while the machine is
running, use the "Eject Hardware" function from the notification icon so
that they can shutdown properly. This will prevent things like problems
with open files.
3. Or, do I need to do something in Win2000 to toggle them on and off as
needed?
Some cards may give you the option of shutting them off to save
batteries, but generally you need to remove them.
