It doesn't look like this is a common problem. It most likely is some
compatibility issue. Thank you everyone for your assistance. I'm going to
shelve this problem and install the USB adapters. I really do appreciate
everyone's assistance.

Yes, the Linksys didn't have a f/w update (new card for them), motherboardsata
bios and sata bios were at highest level. I considered downgrading the
bios, but that is a slippery slope... where do you stop, what otherproblems
will be caused by putting an older bios in, etc.sata

Yes, to no avail. I even tried disabling all the serial, parrallel
theonboard audio, and other non-essentials. It wasn't until I disabled
