Are any other USB devices (other than the 2.0 root hub) showing
in Device Manager? Just from the symptoms it sounds like your
docking station is using another (perhaps USB 1.1?) controller.
When the 2.0 root hub is enabled it might be conflicting with this
other controller, when then stops working.
You can usually tell in Device Manager by the description. USB2
controllers usually have "enhanced host" in their descriptions while
USB1.1 will say something like "universal host" or "open host".

Hi,
I have a query regarding USB. One of our users USB mouse was not working,
it was plugged into a docking station and would not work no matter which USB
port it was on. I tried disabling the USB ports and by doing so found that
disabling the USB 2.0 root hub it allowed the mouse to work?? I have
upgraded the bios to the latest version but still re-enabling the USB 2.0 hub
causes the mouse to stop working. He is curently working on windows 2000
Has any one any ideas?
Or if any one could point me in the right direction as to how USB and USB
2.0 works as my knowledge on the subject is only basic.
Thanks in advance
