win2k drives

My cdrom drive doesn't display in my computer on win2k. It use to. I'm not
sure what happened. I replaced the drive with a known good one. It's in
device manager. I can boot up with it. Not being a valid drive , it won't
auto play cd's,and of course iI can't see the cd or dvd.
