Reapplying the rollup and the service pack would be the precise solution to
this problem but that seems to be impossible to do Dave because services.exe
seems to be the application that is responsible for loading the files that
allow network connections to be available and especially that it manages the
protocol UHDC (or whatever it is) which is used for connecting to the
internet.
So that is why I am not able to go to Microsoft's site to download and
re-install the service pack and the update roll-up again. As for the Windows
2000 CD, the source would not be from a friend but maybe an internet site
like eBay that may still have this software CD for sale because others that I
know have a Windows XP based computer.
am I still in the bit of a pickle? he he.

pack and then rollup or possibly borrow a CD from someone.
