I am running a home computer with windows 2000 sp4. The problem i am
having is when i shutdown for the evening it takes several times of
clicking shutdown for the system to power off. There are no error
messages nor any other applications that need time to close. I tried
waiting 20 minutes before i click shutdown for the second time. It
will only shutdown on the first attempt if i turn on my system for a
short period of time (5-10 minutes) and then shutdown. Any ideas?
Sometimes, I've found using CTL-ALT-DEL, then doing a shutdown from
there can be more 'forceful' than from the Start menu.
Especially, if you press shift and shutdown or ctrl and shutdown to restart
or ctrl and logoff to force a logoff
