Hello David,
Which SP did you use? And also did you update the last patches to your machine?
Best regards

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop running Windows 2000 Professional
When I plug in my external USB hard drive I almost immediately get a
message:
"The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log
off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.
The system process C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\SERVICES.EXE terminated
unexpectedly with status code 128. The system will shut down and
restart."
This seems to have been covered in Article #318447 from the knowledge
base - however I am not running Win2000 server and when I use regedit
there is no shares category under lanmanserver. It seems then that
this is not a fix for my problem
If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated
.
