blue screen

Hi

I started my computer this morning and a blue screen came up citing
"Inaccessible Boot Device". Instructions are to remove any new harddisks or
do a virus scan.

How do I get into the computer to do a scan. I tried safe mode, last known
good configuration. All I get is the blue screen.

Please help. Many thanks in advance
