Error trying to install Visual Studio 2005 Pro

I'm trying to install this software and I get this error:

ERROR:Error 1305.Error reading from file f:\Program Files\Microsoft
Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\GuiDebug\shortcutCLRDbg32.txt. Verify that
the file exists and that you can access it.

The file does indeed exist, but when I try to open it from Explorer,
it says it can't open it. Is there any way around this or am I going
to have to sit on the phone with Microsoft on this one?
