Bluescreening IDE devices

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Recently my Win2K Pro system with all the latest SPs and updates started
blue-screening with MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS errors when I insert a CD
into one of my (IDE) CD-ROM drives. THE drive(s) now show up on Windows
Explorer but don't function. Internet searches turn up only that this is
usually a driver issue, but I've reinstalled the latest drivers (the MS
default CD driver and the IDE driver) to no avail. Any suggestions where I
should look? Registry problem?
