Using W2k, over 1 gig available each drive, 1.2 CPU, latest updates. Error
started about time of genuine checking, lost HD first, new drive,
reinstalled windows 2k, reinstalling programs,
After reading some of the news messages my installing Microsoft Office
(reinstalling) the suite may have been the cause of this windows Installer
problem.
I need to get this fixed have other programs need to install, and they will
not complete the install (register themselves), been working around it for 2
months +. Error: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed....
Have printed out and followed article ID 315346 several weeks ago, going
back today, examining the register
following the path, under MSIServer right hand value data box contains
"ImagePath: REG_EXPAND_SZ:F:\WINNT\system32\msiexec.exe/V"
This complies with the drive/file location
(F:\WINNT\system32\msiexec.exe/V)
HOWEVER, the extra words in front confuse me should I remove every thing
between the ImagePath: and the F:\WINNT\.....?
then boot One other thing I am not sure it has not gotten the new
version of Installer and the version parts are confusing... one another?
When the first half failed to fix it a few weeks ago I went ahead and did
the second half of the fix or Method 2, which still did not fix the
Installer problem.
Todays search turned up 6 msiexec.exe files is various locations.
If you can understand my problem are there any suggestions.
