You installed the correct modem driver for win2k, but did you install the
mobo chipset and other drivers for win2k?
Usually obtained from your PC manu web site, or mobo manu web site
NOT from winupdate.

I upgraded the OS from Windows ME to Windows 2000 on an eTower 633id.
I installed the modem driver available at this Web site:
http://www.priorityonesupport.com/downloads/emachines/ -- the modem is
a Connexant (56K ITU V.90 PCI Fax/Modem).
After installing the modem drivers (the modem "shows up), I am left
with the following hardware issue: the PCI Simple Communication
Controller is showing a configuaration problem, that is, no driver.
My question is, where would I get such a driver? I've searched around
for it and have had no luck. My impression is that this is a PCI -> MB
issue, not a modem issue, per se. If this is not the case, would it
make sense just to purchase a new internal modem?
The motherboard for the 633id:
Cognac Micro ATX (ATX V1.2 form factor) motherboard, TriGem, Korea
Intel Socket-370 (370pin PPGA Socket) for Intel FC-PGA Celeron CPUs
Integrating on-chip Graphics controller and Memory Controller Hub
(GMCH): Intel FW82810, as well as Intel I/O Controller Hub (ICH) and
AC 97' Controller.
I hope this makes some sense.
Thanks.
