Re: Opening new files in the same program window

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Why, it worked fine before I re-installed Windows. In fact, it's worked the
right way ever since Windows 95, up to Windows XP on one system, all with
the same software (with updates, of course). It's just on this one machine
with this one re-install of the operating system where is no longer works.
What would the 3rd party software have to do with that changing?

Also, I just looked and "Windows in Taskbar" is already checked in Word,
which is one of the programs where this problem is happening. For every Word
document that is open, there is a separate instance of Word running.

To turn on Single Document Interface (SDI) in Microsoft Office 2003
applications Tools|Options|View and check "Windows in Taskbar". In either
case there is only one instance application's executable running. Task
Manager|Processes will confirm this.

For the others you'll need to get in touch with the application developer.

| Here's my situation.
|
| Recent hard drive failure.
| Time to upgrade anyway.
| Re-installed Win2K from the same disk as before.
| Did all the same security updates as before.
| SP 4 installed as before.
| .NET 2.0 installed as before.
| Office XP Pro (some Office 2003 updates) installed as before.
| Everything is identical to the old hard drive with the exception of the
| drive itself.
| Same system, same motherboard, same processor, same memory chips, same

| Here's the problem:
|
| Double-clicking on a .jpg file, for example, opens my image editor with
the

file

the

|
| Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me insane.
I've
