Hi -
I have a question regarding MsInfo32.exe. The data I have pertains to
Windows 2003 Server, however the same applies to Win 2000 and XP. Under
"System Summary", there are items for memory, virtual memory, etc.
My example system has 16 GB of physical memory, and two 4095 MB Page files
for a total of 8GB of Page file space. It is my understanding that total
virtual memory is equal to [Physical Memory]+[Sum Total of all Paging Files]
(in this case 16GB+8GB or about 24GB]). When I look at the information in
MsInfo.exe, the following informaiton is displayed:
Total Physical Memory 16,288.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 11.77 GB
Total Virtual Memory 39.68 GB
Available Virtual Memory 30.80 GB
Page File Space 23.78 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys
I am having trouble reconciling this information. Based on what I know
about this system, I would expect to see something on the order of:
Total Physical Memory 16,288.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 11.77 GB
Total Virtual Memory 23.78 GB
Available Virtual Memory <somethng less than total virtual memory>
Page File Space 8.00 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys
Can someone explain why MsInfo32.exe reports Page File Space ss
[Total Physical Memory (in GB)] + [Page File capacity (in GB)]
and not simply
[Page File capacity (in GB)]?
Also why does MsInfo32.exe report Total Virtual Memory as
[Total Physical Memory (in GB)] + [Page File capacity (in GB)] +
[Total Physical Memory (in GB)]
instead of
[Total Physical Memory (in GB)] + [Page File capacity (in GB)]?
Thanks,
Mike
