Whatever!
I personally will create an image of my system as a backup... to me, it is
the best way to backup your system.

Thanks anyway.

Hi JCO,

I think following statement is necessary:

Please note that Microsoft do not support cloned or ghosted systems that
were not deployed following the support Microsoft process. Please see
the
following for more information:

298491 How To Use the System Preparation Tool (Sysprep.exe) to Perform
Disk
Duplication
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;298491

302577 How to use the Sysprep tool to automate successful deployment of
Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;302577

828287 Unsupported Sysprep scenarios
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;828287

Sysprep is a tool that is designed for system administrators, Original
Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and others who must automatically deploy
the Windows XP operating system on multiple computers. After you perform
the initial setup steps on a single computer, you can run the Sysprep
tool
to prepare the sample computer for cloning.

I'll appreciate your understanding

Assuming you have IE6:

How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 6

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in
Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;318378

(The article is written for XP but the registry information for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components
applies to Windows 2000 also.)

Also, I tried different memory and get the same error message. I

reinstalled.

Can't say for sure it could be, but I would think though that the
imaging software would give you an error message or somehow or
other
inform you that it couldn't copy files because of disk corruption
or
other. I mean, it would seem unlikely that the software would
copy
broken files. On the other hand if the operating system was
broken
when
you imaged it, well you will get a broken OS on the new drive.

Thanks, I will do that.
Any thoughts to what I've said about using an image software on a

harddrive

that is known to have issues. Can this corrupt the image?

Try repairing or reinstalling Internet Explorer. There is no
guarantee
that it will fix the problem but try to eliminate it as a cause.
As
for
the error message being mixed up between Internet Explorer and
Windows
Explorer, the two programs are tied together like the Gordian
Knot.
Windows Explorer cannot run without IE and nowadays a large
number
of
problems and error with Explorer.exe are actually caused by
Internet
Explorer. IE sneezes and Explorer.exe has a heart attack.
