Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

If you're not using the service and it's causing errors then try setting it to manual start (or disabled) in the Services Management Console.

I'm not sure if AverMedia should even be on your computer, maybe or maybe not, read here and see if it sounds like a possible mix up that might also apply to Windows 2000, even though it doesn't say I think it could be the same situation:

The AVerMedia, AVerTV WDM Video Capture service failed to start due to the following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

I don't even use this part of my ATI 9600XT all-in-wonder video card.
