Re: Explorer.exe - Application Error

Try repairing or reinstalling Internet Explorer. There is no guarantee that it will fix the problem but try to eliminate it as a cause. As for the error message being mixed up between Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer, the two programs are tied together like the Gordian Knot. Windows Explorer cannot run without IE and nowadays a large number of problems and error with Explorer.exe are actually caused by Internet Explorer. IE sneezes and Explorer.exe has a heart attack.

Running w2k with all updates and patches.

At random times when I click on the contents of my Windows Explorer, I get
this error message:

The instruction at "0x7cf4e345" refereced memory at :"0x0011b563". The
memroy could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL todebug the program

Then when I click ok, to terminate, I get this message:
****************
Microsoft Internet Explorer
An error has occurred in Internet Explorer.
Interent Explorer will now close.

If you continue to experience problmes, please restart your computer.

Remember, it was not IE that I had open, it was Windows Explorer. I message
appears to be mixed up somehow.

This began when I was having issues with a harddrive. The old harddrive was
determined to have a controller issue and I was warned to back everything up
and change my harddrve out before it failed. I Imaged my system to DVD.
Then I recovered the Image to a NEW harddrive. I still have the issue.
I'm not sure if the imaging of a bad drive can cause this or not. Ran
scandisk (nortons version to recover cluster issues but did not find any).

My mermory seems to check out okay duing boot. Not sure how to better test
the memory unless I swap it out. I realize it gives this appearance.

Any thoughts on this Issue?
Thanks in advance
