Network design & administration
Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance
Hello newsgroup buddies!
Having just arrived back from TechMentor, I've come away with some new tools
and new questions. During one of the sessions, the speaker mentioned about
'of course we all configure the network according to Microsoft's
recommendations...". Everyone laughed. I didn't get it:-< Outside of the
fact that it's required to have DNS installed on the network and the need
for a server in each site (sites created based on phyiscal proximity and wan
link speed), the only other thing I can think of is network services. DNS,
DHCP, WINS and IP Subnet design. Can anyone shed some light on network
design principles? This would be timely as we're migrating from netware to
w2k3.
Also, can someone share about some basic administration tasks they perform
on a reguar basis? Daily/weekly/monthly....currently, I check event logs on
a daily basis and am working on baselining our servers with performance
logs.
Thanks!
Chris
