windows computer freeze after idle on ide drive access.

I have the follows problem:
If you access Maxtor 300M IDE drive after computer idle for some time
it freezes entire computer (hard boot). However u can access root
directory on that drive. It freezes only if u changing directory.
The windows installed on SATA drive and if u not trying to access IDE
works fine after idle. The IDE drive after reboot works fine. Before I
reinstall my windows (after registry crash) drives was working fine. I
have ASUS AMD motherboard and the same problem appear with or without
ASUS IDE driver installed from ASUS cd. No overclocking.

Any suggestions are welcome.
