Re: win2K installation

Thanks Dave, I will have to make those disks as I only have the one CD.
Also, another problem I seen to have. When I turn on the computer I get a
series of beeps, then a screen comes up stating a Real time error. I go to
the BIOS and put in the correct time, date but the screen continues to come
up. I can get into Win98 by selecting the Boot option. Win98 also has the
same Time 00:00:00 01/01/98, I change this to the present date and when it
reboots it is right back to the incorrect date. Very frustrating.

I am trying to update to get the computer to be able to use a Belkin
Wireless USB device. In 98 as soon as I plug it in, it stops the computer and
will not allow it to run at all. So, I have to go in a remove the command. I
understand that the proper driver for this is in 98SE but I no longer have
that disk although my other laptop has 98SE installed. Anywhere to get the
file (s) I need, that would solve my problem of not being able to connect to
the net with this laptop computer?

When the Windows 2000 Professional Setup screen appears, all the existing

existing partition, If you press D to delete an existing partition, you must
then press L (or press ENTER, and then press L if it is the System
partition) to confirm that you want to delete the partition. Repeat this
step for each of the existing partitions When all the partitions are deleted
press F3 to exit setup, (to avoid unexpected drive letter assignments with
your new install) then restart the pc then when you get to this point in
setup again select the unpartitioned space, and then press C to create a new
partition and specify the size (if required). Windows will by default use
all available space.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

During Windows 2000 setup, at some point, will want to confirm the previous
operating system for the upgrade; at that point you'll simply insert the
qualified product install CD for it to verify. Then the install will
proceed.

Check the pc, mb or hardware manufacturer's web site for the latest bios and
or Windows 2000 drivers for your devices.
