Win 2000 Prof: internet access for a new user is denied?

I run W2K prof on a laptop. I access the internet via a wireless connection
to a standard router, connected to a cable-modem.

With my own login - an administator - I have full control over the computer.

I have created a user on the computer - for my flatmate - who needs
occasional internet access. But the computer does not recognise the internet
connection, which defeats the object!

I created the user via Start > Control Panel > User > Add.

What else do I need to do?

I'd be grateful for your thoughts!
