SATA timeout problems

Hi,

Im having a bit of a problems with one of my windows 2000 servers. I
am running a adaptec 1210 SATA raid controller card with two SATA
drives.

I keep getting timeout errors when i am running a backup on the
machine. This leads to the server hanging and requiring a reboot. I
get the following error in the event log and eventually the server
crashes!

The device, \Device\Scsi\aar12101, did not respond within the timeout
period.

I have run the build and verify check within the adaptec browser
software and the drives appear to be fine.

Anyone any tips as i dont know what else to try!!
