Re: Setupapi.log and keyboard problems

From: "teknojargon" <teknojargon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

| Suddenly I can't seem to use the 1,2,3,4,7,8 and 9 keys (along with their
| respective cap symbols). I can use the numeric keypad for those numbers,
| however.
|
| What's perplexing is that the problem seems to have occurred at the time
| that my Setupapi.log changed.
|
| The test in the log is as follows:
|
| [2005/09/17 22:53:16 1588.6 Driver Install]
| Munged cmdline: "E:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe"
| shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "E:\WINNT\system32\main.cpl",Keyboard
| EXE name: E:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe
| Selected driver installs from section STANDARD_Inst in e:\winnt\inf
| \keyboard.inf.
| Changed class GUID of device to {4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
| Set selected driver.
|
| I just attached a new keyboard (similar model) and I can use all of the
| above keys. Is it possible that those keys just stopped working, or is
| the change in the above log indicative of spyware or a virus. I ran
| Avast and a bunch of Spyware Programs in addition to crap cleaner. No
| virus was indicated and some spyware was removed, but I still can't seem
| to use the number keys on the old keyboard.

Keyboards fail -- simple as that.
