I am running windows 2000 pro. Pentium 4 processor w/ 512 ram. Hard Drive-40G.
For years I have been running scansoft Textbridge 9.0. I also had a UMAX
Astra 3400 scanner that neede to be replaced. I purchased a Canon LIDE
scanner which included OmniPro ES for OCR recognition. I loaded the programs
as directed and received a successful installation message. Restarted the
computer, connected the scanner and went to Program Files to start the
OmniPro program. After about 7 seconds, I received a 2"X2" box on the desktop
screen, no message title, just the microsoft flying logo; in the message area
was a red circle with a white "X" through it; below it an "OK" button, which
I clicked and nothing happened. I uninstalled and reinstalled at least 6
times and the same results. I thought maybe it was the disk, so I loaded
TextBridge pro 11.0. Same results. Any help short of reinstalling my
operating system is appreciated. BTW, I loaded the same program on my laptop
that is also running windows 2000 pro and had no problems. I do have a photo
of the desktop with the "message" that I could send.
