Setting the autodisconnect DWORD does not persist

Here in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
If you change the default value for the DWORD Name autodisconnect to any value your heart desires less than ffffffff you will find that within 24 hours it will return to the default value ffff. This is definitely a bug OR there is some other "thing" which needs to be changed to allow the chosen value to persist.
Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3
Windows 2000 Server SP4
Windows 2000 Professional SP3
Happens in all versions any Service Pack of Windows 2000.
Test it out for yourself.
