If i turn on min password length, existing users or new users affe

Hi,

I am running W2K3 AD here and have some Windows 2000 member server as well.
I am planning to turn on minimum password length policy and Password must
meet complexity policy in Domain contorller of our AD and Local policy for
2000 member servers.
However, i believe 90% of our exisiting user accounts are not meeting these
two policies requirements. My question is that if i turn on these two
policies, will all existing users got affect right away? Or they can still
logon with their exisitng password until it takes effect when they change
password next time?
Anyone know where is the URL go into details of this?
