I would say it depends more on your emailing habits. If your email client
is secure and you aren't prone to opening unknown email attachments, then I
would see it's useless. I don't scan mine and have yet to get infected or
to send a virus out to others. Also, you can allows save any attachments
and scan them manually, if and when you are in doubt.
