Missing Mouse

Somehow I have managed to have a working keyboard but no mouse. I have tried replacing the mouse with spare one - same problem. I was hoping to use "last known good configuration" but can't select that, just Safe Mode or normal boot. I thought I would try a back up restore but don't seem able to tick the appropriate box without a Mouse !!!
