There are lot of things you can use a USB port for. I have 2 printers,1
scanner,1 card (camera) reader, an external disk, my wacom pen and a web
camera. I don't suppose that they ever need to be connected at the same time but
I was trying for that.
The result was many days spent on trying to get it all to work using a PCI/USB
plug board and also a 4 port hub. It still does not work and I shall be happy to
get it to work with some of the most important units.
I got blue screens, simple not working items, rebooting and as I have just got a
8Mpx camera trouble with some pictures that are cut into jigsaw puzzles and if
there are more than 160MB of data to transfer from card to computer a simple
refusal to copy more than the first 100MB or so.
So if you still have trouble, maybe you should try to disconnect some of the USB
units or maybe as in my case go with just the wacom and the camera card reader
I shall start that now and slowly build up the connections untill it goes bust
again.
