A strange and alien place indeed!

First, I have some new info.

After my little adventure with IomegaWare installation,
some new error entries were made to the application log.

They are as follows:

Type Date Time Source Category Event User
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Error 4/13/2005 8:34:03 PM rasctrs None 2001 N/A
_._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._
The description for Event ID ( 2001 ) in Source ( rasctrs ) cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message
DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information
is part of the event: The event log file is corrupt..
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Error 4/13/2005 8:34:03 PM PerfNet None 2002 N/A
_._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._
Unable to open the Redirector service. Redirector performance data will not
be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Error 4/13/2005 8:34:03 PM PerfNet None 2004 N/A
_._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._
Unable to open the Server service. Server performance data will not be returned.
Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Error 4/13/2005 8:34:03 PM PerfDisk None 1000 N/A
_._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._
Unable to open the Disk performance object. Status code returned is data DWORD 0.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

So it would seem that rasctrs, PerfNet, and PerfDisk might be at the root of this issue.

I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to purge them from my system.
(Maybe editing the registry?)

We also have the system log errors that I listed in the first post to this thread:

I also noticed that there are a few device errors:

Device PNP Device ID Error Code
Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3106&SUBSYS_01051106&REV_86\3&61AAA01&0&60 28
Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_10B7&DEV_9300&SUBSYS_2C0217F2&REV_31\3&61AAA01&0&68 28

I don't know if those would have any impact or not.
