Maybe this will help...

A couple of online virus scans

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Also to repair System Files do this...

Start
Run...
"type" CMD /k <enter>
"type" SFC /SCANNOW <enter>
(may need the OS CD)

also to run CheckDisk

Start
Run...
"type" CMD /k <enter>
"type" CHKDSK /R
"type" "Y" for yes <enter> and reboot
(this will take up to 30 minutes)

if this does not fix your malady, you can perform an Inplace Upgrade

I posted once before here that all of a sudden, when I try START/SEARCH
files or folders, nothing at all happens. (A friend's machine now has
the same problem -- maybe we infected each other?). Here's a list of
things that don't help.

1) Reinstall SP4 without reinstalling Win2K
1) Reinstall Win2K
3) Reinstall Win2K and SP4

I've tried a lot of other search schemes and none of them are as simple
and useful as the built in SEARCH was.

Would appreciate any hints on what would fix this.
