Boy this SP4 keeps rearing its ugly head. So you cannot repair a Windows 2000 installation from the
Windows 2000 CD-ROM with SP4 installed. Great.
I thought you could boot. You mentioned some errors in the Event log which normally is only visible when
you are able to get into the Op sys namely you've booted successfully.
If you cannot boot and you cannot repair then in all likelihood it is time for a reinstall. What you can do is
get a new harddrive and install anew on that. Then if you can hook up a second harddrive you can access it
with the new op sys and copy out anything important.
You do not want to upgrade a bum sysyem to XP. That's won't solve anything. If you can get into
Windows 2000 then try the sfc command I asked about. If you want to fix the Print Spooler issue then we
need to look at any services it is depending on and remove that dependency.
As for the NetBT issue I suppose the article I gave you was not right. We need the Event Id and the
Source.
