Sounds like a virus. Is any antivirus software installed on this
system? Is it up to date?

You can go into REGEDIT and check the "DisplayName" key
for each program entry (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Uninstall), and assuming the keys are there and
valid (less than 63 characters each) you're probably dealing with
a virus infection.
