.Net passport hotmail closing browser window

For the few days everytime I try to sign in at msn.com to check my hotmail
acct the IE browser window I'm in suddenly closes instantly when I click the
Net sign in button or the link for hotmail. I can access by using
MSNmessengers check email feature but cannot sign off afterward without the
same reaction. Mozilla is not affected in this way, but I would like to
continue to use IE. This started happening suddenly with no system changes,
i.e. app installs, etc on my machine and have all AVG, spybot s&d, adaware,
etc patched to date. Any ideas?
