Mr. Jones

Attached for your viewing pleasure is what I currently am have to endure for the Windows Explorer, either by clicking the shortcut or from the run command. This IS NOT what I had less than 12-hours ago before allowing Windows Update to download and install some 15 patches. Previously I had a two-pane window with a full Directory-tree on the left hand side (which included all Drives, and whatnot) and folder and files (for whatever drive, or folder selected at the left) shown at the right ... no pretty graphics, no gew-gaws ... nada ... just straightforward ease of use and functionality for file management tasks.

I have not been able to restore any of the prior functionality, and having to select either Drives or Folders from the "Location-bar" just doesn't cut it, nor does having to use the Back and Forward buttons to navigate up or down a Directory-tree I'm not ever able to view in it's entirety.

Admittedly I can get rid of the so-called Explorer-bar if I choose, but that leaves me with the cute graphics and bugger all else that's even remotely functional.

Incidentally, your advise to read about the Patches before applying them (a second time) is good advice; and which I routinely exercise; alas, none of the patches downloaded and installed this morning warned me about the possible consequences of my having done so; nor, how it would affect Windows Explorer.

Again your assistance here is appreciated.
