Just a guess here because your post doesn't give the full picture. Seems to
me that your boot manager may not be hiding the existing partitions
correctly and after the original setup, Win 2000 is addressing the wrong
partition and is unable to find it's boot files. Post the full stop error,
the layout of your partitions and what boot manager you are using and I'm
sure you'll get a better response.
