Basically good advice except for (6). Why would you connect to
the internet to install applications? Also why don't you recommend
the use of a firewall?
I just downloaded a 2.6Mb update to AVG7 (www.grisoft.com) and
at 56K dialup it took about 12 minutes. During the download my
firewall rejected 3 incoming ownerless TCP packets to ports 1027
and 1034. As a result my firewall protects and my once a day virus
scan is just a formality.
