You can boot with your Win98 startup disk and issue the command
sys C:
this will rewrite the boot sector, then you can delete these files boot.ini,
ntldr, ntdetect.com, bootsect.dos, pagefile.sys and possibly ntbootdd.sys
from the root of the System partition C:\

There is no uninstall. To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000
install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install disks can be created
from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the
CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and
follow the prompts. Then choose the format the second partition and continue
the install.

| hi,
| I have standalone system with Dual Bootable ,Win98 and Win2000 Server
| I have one hard disc with three drives namely C:,D:,E: . Loaded win 98 in
C drive and loaded win 2000 server in D drive, while loading win 2000 .I
converted the file system to NTFS(Caution Converted and not Formatted)now I
can't see this D: Drive from C: in which Win 98 is loaded(understandable). My
Windows 2000 system got slow so I want to remove everything from it and load
freshly. Is it good practice to format before deleting not useful data. Is
there any way to uninstall operating system . If I format D drive will it be
seen from my C drive (since D drive has been converted to NTFS and not
formatted) I don't want to Format, I want all the data to be removed before
uninstalling operating system and go back to fat32 system ,is that possible.
| Isit reccomended to format and load freshly.(Though I don't prefer). In
order to uninstall how should it be done(windows2000server).
