Hmmm, I scan images every day. I don't have WIA. I even have the Still Image
Service disabled and am still able to successfully scan images every day. As
far as I know, WIA is a function within WindowsME, not Windows 2000.
If you're running Windows 2000 you don't need, nor do you want, WIA.
